Anger in and of itself is not bad. Let’s be honest, anger sometimes gets things done and there are times when it is very useful. The problem is when the anger gets out of control. What is important is how anger is handled. Its Anger Management not Anger Elimination.
I bring a nonjudgmental and straightforward approach to anger management. I have worked with hundreds of people with anger issues and everybody needs different ways of dealing with and reducing their anger. Effective anger management is more complex than just learning “a new set of tools.” It is a complicated emotion and not typically managed with simple cookie cutter approaches. We have all tried tools such as getting away or taking a walk, but there are times when these tools are not enough. I will work with you in exploring subtle causes of anger that maybe you have not thought of yet.
Anger is rarely alone; other emotions are usually behind it even though they may be difficult to recognize. My approach to anger management includes understanding it’s sources and using our sessions as opportunities to find ways to lessen the anger without shutting down your emotions completely.
